Ultra light iron-on self-adhesive film (polypropylene). For small models, indoor models, park-fly models. Transparent colors weigh only 20 grammes per square meter (0.60 ounces per square yard). 'Solid' colors are only slightly heavier. Weights include color and adhesive.
A wide variety of colors are available. Flats are (.7m x 1.27m) 27.5" wide by 50" long.
HINT, If you use dryer sheets for your laundry, then take a large bath towel and lay it on top of your work space. As you handle the Solar Film and your air frame on this surface, much of the static will be drawn out of the film and into the towel! On large pieces, to reduce static charge and prevent the material from sticking to itself, it is also helpful to remove the backing a little at a time as you iron down the film. Creases or wrinkles smooth out during application. This material is really very easy to work with once you understand how to cage the (static) demon!
Aluclad is a self adhesive bright finish aluminium foil specifically suited to covering model aircraft. A one step, fuel proof finish. Use on scale models. 0.003" thick. Weight = 133 grams/square meter. Malleable enough to be burnished around curves/corners. You built that scale model to look real, why not cover it with real aluminium! 1000mm x 640mm roll.
Great material to keep around for making aluminum look firewalls, hatches, dash panels, cowling finishes and many other uses. That little extra touch that gives your wormanship snap or eliminates the unfinished look of many ARF's.

Much easier than fiberglass with much of the qualities of a fiberglass job and none of the weight. I've not tried applying with water based polyurethanes as is popular today on foam but feel it would be a good cantidate for that method as well.
Our Rod-Stock policy applies to this material. Minimum of 6 long skinny things per order. You can mix and match any "Rod Stock" items you want to satisfy the 6 peice minimum. Look at Music Wire, Carbon Rod, Pushrods and such for other items you may need. We will roll your sheets and ship them in a tube or triangle. If you order 1 roll of So-Lite covering, no minimum applies as SILKSPAN can be put inside or on the tube of that product for safe packaging.

Its high solid content and adhesion qualities make it a breeze to cover models with these economical coverings. Stix-It eliminates the messy part of the traditional process. No more need to dope through the covering and rub it down with your fingers. Simply brush a coat of Stix-It on the wood, let it dry, then iron on your covering material.
Stix-It also works great as a surface preparation and wood sealer for any of the pre-finished iron-on coverings, either plastic film or fabric type. The superior adhesion of Stix-It helps eliminate the troublesome pull-ups and lifting seams common with those coverings. It also reduces fuel seepage under the seams of the covering.
