Understanding Gear Ratios: Different gear ratios change how the power is applied to the air. As the letter gets further away from "A" (more and more gear reduction) the RPM and pitch speed is reduced and the static thrust (and usually prop diameter) is increased. In other words the prop shaft will turn slower but with more torque so it can handle larger props. If the pitch speed does not exceed the stall speed you can't pull the model fast enough to make it fly. You usually want pitch speed to be at least 2-2.5 X stall speed for slow fliers, trainers and 3D models. Sport aerobatic models 2.5-3X stall speed, pattern airplanes at least 3X stall speed. If your experimenting be sure to get a range of props for the motor. In many instances one prop will make the model feel poor while another prop might exceed your expectations. Nobody can predict what will work best for you so get what you think will work and a couple nearby props so your not missing out on better performance. Look in props section for simple math to calculate pitch speed if prop pitch and RPM are known.
All of these power systems use the same motor at different gear ratios. GWS says not to load them over about 6 amps. However, I've had good luck loading them to near 8 amps. They come with a sleeker gearbox than the 370DX series and a different lower KV S-300 motor. The quality is high in these powerful motors. They perform best on 7 or 8 720 NiMh or RRC 2x1800 Polymer packs. Remember, the higher the ratio the greater the static thrust at a lower speed. Choose wisely. By purchasing a few different props you'll be able to make adjustments to static, inflight thrust and pitch speed of your power system and come up with the best combination of performance for your bird.
These power systems have the most efficiant speed 300 motors you can get. All of them use the same motor at different gear ratios. GWS says not to load them over about 6 amps. Black Diamond 301 Motor/Mount/Heat Sink/Gearbox 3.75:1 TILL IT'S GONE
Ok, here is a special on the last of the BD301 motor systems I have. We used these to make the first ever 3D foamy, the Radical Edge 540. Oh those were the days! Anyway here they are at a bargain. This is the exact setup we sold with that kit. Was $38.
Worlds Highest power to weight ratio Speed 300 motor/mount/heat sink/gearbox combo which is suggested in the Edge 540 kit. Suggested pack is 8-720 NiMH, Prop 8-6 GWS, you'll be around 11 oz static thrust at 8 amps, 6.5 in the air, 36mph pitch speed all at front of charge. High power system gives you ultimate power to weight ratio. Assembly weight without prop is 67g/2.4oz. Fox XL anodized aluminium combination motor mount/gearbox frame/heat sink (look in "Electric Flight Accessories/Motor Mounts & Heat Sinks"). Note: Prop is for illustration only.
Motor asm. only without heat sink motor mount available below.
Black Diamond 301 Motor/Mount/Heat Sink/Gearbox 5.33:1 TILL IT'S GONE!
Our killer Radical Edge 540 motor system in a higher gear reduction for 8-6 / 9-4.7 on 3S. Was $38.
Worlds Highest power to weight ratio Speed 300 motor/mount/heat sink/gearbox combo which is suggested in the Vertigo Kit. Suggested pack is 10-720 NiMH or 3S 1200 HD Lipo, Prop 8-6 or 9-4.7 GWS, you'll be around 16 oz static thrust at 8 amps, 35mph pitch speed all at front of charge. High power system gives you ultimate power to weight ratio. Assembly weight without prop is 67g/2.4oz. Fox XL anodized aluminium combination motor mount/gearbox frame/heat sink (look in "Electric Flight Accessories/Motor Mounts & Heat Sinks"). Note: Prop is for illustration only.

MM1 Motor Kit for Li'l Hornet (12oz and under park flyers)
Builds into a neat little power house. Same motor kit that comes with the Lil Hornet Aerobatic park flyer. About 25 watts of potential power. You build the kit, only medium CA is needed to complete gearbox. Comes with prop. Extra props are available and the GWS 8-4.7 is also a good option. Run on 7 or 8 NiMH cells. Draws about 4 amps on 7 cells (2 lipo's). Photo is of completed kit after you assemble it.
All of these power systems use the same motor at different gear ratios. GWS says not to load them over about 12 amps. These are 7.2 S-400 motors. Although GWS normally reccomends these for 2S or 7-8 Nimh Nicad cells. They work well at 3S (or 10 round cells) if you keep the amps to 12 or less. they are best utilized at 8-12 amps range. No prop amp load chart is available for these.
