Orbit MicroLader Frequently Asked Questions
I've heard there is new software available for
the
Orbit. If I order one now would I be getting the new
program?
Yes, All Orbits shipped
from Radical RC since Feruary 1, 2003 include the lastest available 6.2
firmware.
Hello,
I noticed this weekend while charging some lith/ion
batteries that my Orbit charger did not stay at the set charge current
but rather
slowly lowered the current until the charge was
completed.
Is this normal? WB, Iowa
Yes, this is how you charge
lithium Ion and Ion Polymer. You can't allow them to go over
4.2volts
per cell. As they fill under the condition of being pushed by the
charger they will reach 4.2V per cell. When this happens
the
charger starts to taper down the current to keep them from going over
4.2V
per cell. Over time this process is repeated many times
until
at last you see it charging at very low current then nothing a all and
it's done. When they reach 4.2V per cell and at zero charge
current,
they they are done.
I've owned a few other
chargers
like the ***** and the ******. They were difficult to learn to
use
but seemed to work fine once I got the hang of it. How hard
is the Orbit to learn? LK, Arizona
I am familiar with the
chargers
you mention and they are quite complex however they are also fine
units.
Most people have the idea of the Orbit down pretty good in 5 minutes or
so. It's comparatively very simple to use for a charger that can
do so much. I'm confident you'll love it!
