Subject: Thanks for wonderful buying experience yesterday @ Radical RC

I wanted to say thank you for the wonderful buying experience yesterday. I got disconnected while purchasing some batteries and someone from your company called me back. Not too many places will do that these days.

So I left a link to your website in rcgroups.com about the batteries I purchased from you and it should help increase your Google search rankings so people can find you better on the internet.

I am an Ohio transplant living in California now and do Google SEO (search engine optimization) for a living, so thanks for the wonderful service and I hope my little contribution will help your business grow, especially in this economy.

“These guys seem to go the extra mile to help you out.
I've always been pleased with the service from Radical RC. A real person answers the phone and answers questions, usually an owner. I see a lot of concerns over shipping times from overseas but Radical RC sends there stuff out, regardless of weight, for $3 USPS first class. I usually get it in 2-3 days. And, it's supporting a US hobby store!”

“Their service is top notch. I have ordered wheels, other parts, they came ASAP. Each year at Toledo, they have a booth, I try to get lots of parts from them. Dave and his crew are really good. Dave did a seminar at the JR Indoor Festival a couple of years ago about lipo batteries. I was so glad I went and listened. He saved me many dollars and prevented me from making some really stupid mistakes. I also got an ammo box from them at the JR Indoor Festival. So, Radical RC is a great place to shop.”

“Dave always took the time to talk to me and give advice at Toledo even though I didn’t even buy anything from him. He even stopped what he was doing, got his laptop out and ran motor specs for me for a kit I got at the swap meet. It was a classy thing to do and he is a fantastic ambassador for RC! Keep up the great work Dave!”

“Hi Dave and all, I need to tell you something. I discovered your website last night. I read most of the content, and finally placed an order. Last night. The shipment is apparently on its way – now. Like most in this hobby, I never knew your company existed – all I’ve ever known are the big 2, and a few “Mickey mouse” sites that struggle to speak proper English. Your website is much more logical, informative, truly professional, and in good form than either of the big 2. I’ll tell the guys. And, when I begin using the items that you are sending, for all to see, that may be the best “thank you” that I can express.”

“How much I love Radical RC... also Mini Stick fun...”

“Greetings...My name is Mitch, and I've been doing business with you folks for the better part of this year. I'm fortunate enough to be able to drive a short distance to the RRC shop. Ever since my first visit, you folks have treated me to fantastic prices, and best of all, priceless advice and knowledge. I live on a disability income, due to a severe back injury, and even despite my limited amount of money, I'm still able to have a fulfilling hobby due to the affordable prices you are able to pass onto your customers. It also helps to have Dick give me his opinion, maximizing my bang for my buck.

I've built a RRC intern trainer which was my 2nd RC aircraft, and I've just recently upgraded to one of your mini sticks.

First of all, your laser cutting is fabulous. It’s enough to spoil you if you have to go back and build a traditional die-cut or even scratch built plane. Its true, you can actually frame up nearly the whole plane without a drop of glue. The supplied balsa is light and strong as it should be for this ship. The magnet wing hold down is simply genius, and makes battery swap outs painless and quick. Instructions are clear and concise, but once you build one Radical RC kit, you probably won’t need them much honestly. =)

The mini stick is running a Radical RC CDROM brushless motor (1000KV) on a Castle Creations Thunderbird 9 amp speed control, plugged into a Berg 4L receiver. I'm running 3S 800-1025mAh lipos in that little plane, and the performance is fantastic. The 1025mAh pack just BARELY fits in the fuselage, but once it’s in the air, the added weight isn't very perceptible amazingly enough. With 3 high capacity packs like that, you can fly until your thumbs wear out!  I'm no expert pilot or anything, but it’s an absolute riot to flog this little thing around the sky, and with its diminutive size, its opens up a lot of opportunities for new places to fly. The little outrunner swings a 7x6 prop, and it’s not outrageously fast, but it’s got straight up vertical, and will anxiously climb out from just about any attitude. 3 GWS Pico BB’s servos are a nice match for the control surfaces.

My next project might be another Mini Stick on the opposite end of the spectrum. A 12mm inrunner turning tiny props at super high RPMs for ‘blink-and-you'll-lose-it’ supersonic speed. =)

All in all, I just had to say thanks for all your hard work and dedication to this hobby. I am blessed to be able to know you guys and do business with you.

P.S. I call dibs on the double-size Intern Trainer if they ever make it to production!”

“Hi Dave, Just a courtesy note to let you know that the Fokker DVII arrived safely this morning. Box is in perfect condition and although I haven’t had a chance to “rummage” yet, everything appears pristine and intact. I am delighted and must again compliment you on your service- it has been an absolute pleasure dealing with your company. Your service has been refreshingly personal and exceptionally reliable, which is not all that common these days. Thanks once again and I will certainly be buying from you again in the near future. Please feel free to quote this correspondence on your testimonial page if you’re so wish.

Kind regards,

“Hello Dave, I just wanted to send you a quick note thanking you for some advice. I talked to you briefly at the Dayton show. I asked about crimping terminals onto wires with the pin crimp tool. Two or maybe three years ago I bought terminals and the crimper tool from you. I have tried many times to make the crimper work but they would always  come out wrong. I kind of gave up since I couldn't get them to work. You pointed out that the tool has a raised spot to roll the fingers on the terminal into the wire instead of jamming into each other. I had to study the jaw of the tool to see the nub but it is there. I guess my eyes aren't as good as they used to be.  This has made all the difference in the world. Thank you for the help this has been a source of aggravation for me for quite some time. Now they come out perfect every time.

Thanks again, M. Herman”

“Dear Dave, I received the order and all looks fine.  Many websites offer the same products you do but I choose your company because you seem to have personal experience with the equipment you sell and there is a personal explanation of the equipment.  Not just a copy of the manufacturer's product description.

Elaborate explanations of various products and procedures add to your website's professional image.  I am fully convinced that I will get my money's worth when shopping with you.

Thank you,

“Dave, I Got to fly my lazy bee today and I only have one comment.

YEEEEEEHHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

She flies every bit as good as with gas!  Thanks for the set up!

My lazy Bee is a 42in wing with ailerons. Current setup is now a Himax 2812-0850. a Phoenix 25, and a 3S2000 mAh 15c LiPo. 10x6 e-prop. The bee went from 1lb.4oz (less fuel) with O.S. LA.010 to 1lb 14oz electric. The 10x6 prop only clears the ground on all three tires but I had no luck with ground launches anyway. It's the same plane now with no mess. I just charge, assemble, and fly, at will! I'm drooling to get the Magic ARF set up the same way.”

“Hi, my name is Nick. I'm from Prop Buster's R/C club in Richmond, IN. I
recently bought a brushless motor from you for my GWS P-51 Mustang.
Thanks to your help. My plane flies a lot better than it ever has before
(in spite of my poor piloting skills).

The software you used to determine the proper set up for my airplane was
very helpful…thanks for all your help. I look forward to doing more business with you in the future.

“Dave, I finally got to fly the micro stick today, and the Python 30 with a 7-6 prop is a fantastic combination! The finished model weighs in at 4.5 oz and, once trimmed, flies like a dream.  The first flight was a tad hairy for
the first few seconds, but the plane came home in one piece after about an hour in the air.  Nice design, easy to assemble, plenty of room for the flight electronics and servos, and I plan to order the Mini Stick soon. Once I saw the article in RC Microflight, I definitely had the Micro Stick at the top of my list of planes to try this summer.  The airborne package is:

GWS-R4P receiver
Phoenix-10 speed controller
Python 30 brushless motor (because I had it on hand...I bet your hand-wound converted disk drive motors would work just as well)
7-6 Prop
700 ma Kokam LiPo battery
HS-50 servos

The plane handles the added weight of the motor, speed
controller and battery just fine.  Thanks for a really
good design...I would highly recommend this model to anyone
with some flying experience who wants a hot little plane
that's a real blast to fly!

“Reflections on the 2004 JR Challenge

Hi Dave, I've had a few days to recover from the travel and reflect on the 04 JR Challenge and it occurred to me that one of the most overlooked parts of the trip was the performance I received from my power system.  I say overlooked because it was such a non-issue the entire week.  I arrived Mon afternoon too late to get any flying in; Tue - 6 12 minute flights plus some time on the ground making system adjustments - at the end of the day both flight packs were still in the 6.2 volt range under load; Wed - a duplicate of Tues.  Thurs and Friday competition flights I flew on a single charge.  What’s more, the TX pack I installed in my 10x the week before went the entire week un-charged and never dropped below the 10v level!  My only regret is that my flying wasn't up to par with my battery performance.  Thanks for great products and great service, keep up the good work, hope to see you in Muncie for NATS!

“Hi Dave, I just wanted to thank you for the help you've given me this week.  It's nice to be out flying again with the right equipment.

I also wanted to pass along kudos for your employee "Chris" who took good care of me when you were off to a show.  He answered my questions and filled my order in a hurry (using some very good creativity I might add) to get me up and flying within 2 days.  I got to fly all weekend due to Chris' hustle. This is the stuff that will make me continue to buy from you guys.

Thanks,

Bob Aberle writes:

“Dear Dave, Just a follow up to our meeting at the recent NEAT Fair. By the way the January 2002 RC Modeler will have the first published report of our NEAT Fair. Dates have already been set for next year; they are Sept. 13, 14 & 15, 2002. Hope to see you there again.

My reason for contacting you, at the Fair I purchased an 8 cell 720 MAH Sanyo NiMH battery pack from you. I just used this new pack the other day with excellent results. In my application I'm drawing 5.3 amps (at the start) on a Speed-300 motor geared 5/1. First flight was almost ten minutes with the motor running at full throttle the entire time. After landing the battery was only mildly warm. I have been fast recharging this pack at the field at 1.4 amps which takes an average of 30 minutes to reach a full charge. Do you feel the 5.3 amps is OK for these cells? I'm very impressed with the performance.

Yes, they can take constant drains up to abut 6.5 amp range very well.”

“Boy Dave! The new AAA 8 CELL nimh pack I got from you for my Wattage "Mini Max" is terrific! just thought I'd let you know .. I swear I flew for 19 minutes this chilly morning on my front lawn ... keep up the good work .. I am almost finished building the "Radical Edge"  ..................

“By the way, I got an unbelievable 31 1/2 minutes on the 8 cell 720 pack this morning. (Wattage "Mini Max) is this the norm? Flight was at partial power most of the time with long power off glides…still, this is great!

Re: 2700mah
“I bought (2) 2700mah NIMH batteries from you two weeks ago for my 40% Edge540.  Since it is filled with 8411's all over the plane, I was concerned the batteries would have enough endurance.  With a 5.7V regulator, I am getting 6-7 flights per day and flying all weekend on one charge.  I can't get the same performance from my 2400mah Duralites.

Re: (3800RX packs)
“Hi Dave this is Bruce Swartfager  I flew my 35% staudacher yesterday with the 3800 metal pack and it flew great  no trim adjustments just couldn’t have done any better. It has Brison 6.4 twin up front and did it sing  I am excited as you can tell. I figured up how many oz. of torque i am running and it comes in at 1250 oz. That is a lot and so the question of metal packs not providing enough amps is a myth. I have 612 oz. alone on the wings of torque. Just thought i would pass this on thanks Bruce will looking forward to the Orbit charger. Later Bruce, Altoona Iowa
(Most are flying the 2700 in this application but the 3800 works great too where you want a little extra capacity or nose weight).”

Re: (RRC-300 packs)
“Dave, Hi, I picked up a 7-cell pack of 300 mAh NiMHs from you at the SWAC, back in May.  You asked me to let you know how they worked out.
THEY ARE FABULOUS !!!
Light weight, powerful, and getting better with every cycle.  I'm currently using them in a GWS Tiger Moth powered by a GWS DX-A and
GWS 9 X 7 prop.  Perfect combination!
I'll be ordering some more packs soon.

Thanks a lot.
Happy flying,

“Hi Dave...I ordered 2 battery packs a couple of weeks ago for my Lite Stik (7 cell, 300 mah NIMH & 8 cell, 300 mah NIMH). These two packs are absolutely superb for the Lite Stik!   With the 7-cell pack I can achieve 20-25 minute flights just coasting, and floating around at 1/2 to 2/3 throttle...With the 8 cell pack I get 18 -20 minute flights, but MUCH more robust performance. I can ROG with the 8 cell pack in 2-3 feet easily! The plane can climb at an amazing rate, and be a dot in the sky in no time!   I'm thoroughly impressed with these battery packs, and you can bet that you'll be hearing from me again for additional battery needs!  (Yep, I get MORE flight time with the 7-cell as opposed to the 8 cell pack! I believe it's because the current draw is greater when I use the 8 cell... then again, I'm able to DO things with the 8 cell that simply REQUIRE more current!)

Great batteries...

Thanks Dave! Rick Kalada
