When developing the Four-Star 40, SIG had two main design goals: First of course was impeccable flight performance, including the ability to perform any aerobatic whoop-dee-doo you can throw at it. Second, it had to be ultra-simple to build without looking like a "box with wing".
Kit Features: Lite-Ply Fuselage Construction, Pre-Cut Sheet Balsa Tail Surfaces, Durable Aluminum Main Landing Gear, Formed Tailwheel Wire, Molded Clear Plastic Canopy, Full Size Plans, Fast-Building Wing with Spruce Spars, Photo-Illustrated Instruction Book, Engine Mounts, Sig Easy Hinges, Pushrods, Complete Hardware Pack & Large Decal Sheet.
Wingspan: 59 3/4 in 1518 mm Wing Area: 604 sq in 39 sq dm Flying Weight: 4 3/4 lb 2150 g Length: 47 in 1194 mm Radio Required: 4 Channel, 4 Servos Recommended Engines: .30-.40 cubic in (4.9 - 6.5 cubic cm) 2-Stroke, .40-.50 cubic in (6.5 - 8.2 cubic cm) 4-Stroke
Special notes about electric from Dave: This model makes an excellent electric conversion. I've seen many of them done and they fly well. Plenty of wing area and a light weight design. Below are my suggestions for a range of practical power systems.

Sodium-ion batteries are highly safe, have no risk of explosion and fire, and are environmentally friendly, non-toxic and non-polluting. No memory effect - the battery can be charged in any state of discharge, giving you peace of mind. The working principle of sodium ion batteries is similar to that of lithium-ion batteries, which utilize the insertion and removal process of sodium ions between the positive and negative electrodes to achieve charging and discharging. Example photos show 4-Cell Flat Packs, 4 single cells, and wire configuration examples (apply to 4-cell the same).
Single Cell Specifications:
Nominal Voltage: 3.1V
Work Voltage Range:1.5V-4.1V
Continuous charge /Discharge current:10C
Operating Temperature:-30°-60°
Cycle Life:More than 4000 times (0.5C/0.5C @80% SOH)
Nominal capacity: 1500mAh

Weight: 38+- 10 g
Advantage of Sodium ion Battery
1. Long cycle life: The cycle is longer, compared with Lithium ion battery, can reach to 4000-4500 times.
2. Safety: Sodium-ion cells can be discharged to 0V for transport, avoiding thermal run-away hazards.
3. High Power: The cells have continuous discharge current 10C Peak discharge current.
4. Low temperature: Can be used in low temperature environments, with a discharge capacity of up to 85% at a temperature of -30 degrees.
5. Wild Voltage range: The working voltage range is 1.5V-4.1V.
6. Environmental abundance: Sodium is over 1000 times more abundant than lithium and more evenly distributed worldwide. So its price is more stable.
7. LOWER COST: Sodium precursors (such as Na2CO3) are far cheaper than the equivalent lithium compounds.
8. Charge on Li-Ion mode set voltage to maximum 3.9-4.1V

4x4 Square 9.6V FDK (formerly Sanyo) 8-AA 2500 NIMH cells. "Twicell" (formerly Eneloop) low self discharge type which comes partially charged and is the same product as prior Twicell (Eneloop) cells. Same size as 700 and 1100 NiCad pack above. Less weight than 1400 NiCads above. Good cell where fast charging is not a needed but extra capacity is desirable. High capacity TX Battery, if you are sick of your TX running down. Yes, it is the same size as your current AA pack. A "AA" is a "AA". This is what your computer TX should have included!
9.6V Weight 312g / 11 oz.
Individual Cell Internal Impedance 20.0mΩ
All AA size cells over 1700mAh should not be fast charged ever! If you repeat this experiment, your on your own. I recommend only factory wall wart charging with units rated of 70mAh or less for these type cells.
Break in (first forming charge) on 50mAh factory wall charger 700mAh-19.6 hours,1100-30.8 hours,1650-46.2 hours, 2500-70 hours. For 70mAh wall charger deduct 28% of time, for 100mAh wall charger deduct 50% of time. Forming charge (initial charge) on peak detection chargers is not recommended and voids warranty.
Any peak or fast charger use on this pack voids warranty. Don't bother calling trying to get a warranty for failing to follow instructions. I've heard all the stories. They all end like this, "My battery does not cycle well now." and "It worked ok for a while but now it runs down fast shortly after charging". If you put any AA cell over 1700mAh capacity on your peak charger, it's bad. I've already made theses tests for you so you could avoid the pain. If you ruin one of these mega capacity TX packs, just order a new one and do better the second time.
