“Even this flight into the lake didn’t kill off the 1SQ, I’ve had 20
flights since with video, all is working like new : )

Thoughts from the workbench of Radical RC. The online retailer of electronics and kits for radio control aircraft. Dave Thacker shares his thoughts and knowledge of electronics, batteries, kit design and overall enjoyment of the hobby.
The critics of FPV’s who stupidly call them “drones” (drones are autonomous or aircraft towed targets) fail to realize all the good environmental use they are currently being put to. Check out the video below. Used to put hunters on target to eliminate feral hogs. Wild bore destroy crops and are a serious danger to children, pets and the elderly. Outstanding job of applying our hobby in a positive way to clean up a problem.
This is why we need to make certain our federal employees in all branches do not take it upon themselves to decide for us what we can and cannot do in these area’s. Not having aggressive hogs roaming around forcing people to hide indoors and destroying crops is an important part of the “pursuit of happiness”. Allow no Liberty Objector to stand unchallenged on this issue.
Oct 7, 2013: ……. Everything arrived just fine. I’m very impressed with what I bought. I’ve had a slow stick for years and always enjoy flying it. A few weeks ago it got caught in a tree and we destroyed it getting it down. I think with the help of your high quality parts it will be better than new. Thank you and I look forward to doing business with you again. Alan R.
Check out Steve’s solution for ground take off.
Hi Dave,
Thanks for posting Keith’s video of his Flyer.. enjoyed it. I see where it hops a little in the wind (like mine) but still quite manageable. (I thought it was me!) Think I’ve got close to 3 hours flying time on mine, and still my most favorite flying machine .
Here’s a couple JPG’s of the dolly I built for the Flyer. As you can see I used a separate receiver to steer it while on the ground. (paired to the rudder) Works great on pavement, but had to make the sides higher for T/O on our rough grass runway. (was easy to bounce off) Also put 4″ tires on the front. (2.5″ in the back) The plane still draws a crowd when ever I fly it.
Best,
Steve
So, Steve, I’m wondering, is this RX bound up to the same TX and program as the flyer it’s self? Meaning of course, just one radio, when you move the rudder, the tail wheel would be moved also? Looks very good. I’ve not used a dolly yet, but from sliding it on smooth surfaces for take off, I’ve felt it would work better with a positive angle of attack. Your wheels sizes make sense to do that.
Is that armament Steve? We need more information. 😉

“”Hi Dave,
Flew the Wright at a e-fly this last weekend. Saturday was beautiful, cool and calm. One of my friends took these shots of the Wright, thought you might like to see them. Also Dave Grife took a couple of short videos. Sunday was much windier and quite gusty (about 10 mph, gust over 15 mph). The Wright handled it fine with the modifications to the wing warping pushrods and the rudder pivot shaft.

First two minutes is Wright””
Note: Keith has constructed a take off dolly. As he takes of the model turns directly into the wind and leaves the dolly. I have no close up shots of the dolly. It’s a simple square board with two wheels up front, tail wheel on stinger and two pegs that catch a front cross member. Soon as the model lifts, it clears the cross member and leaves the dolly behind. The rear wheel is a smaller tail wheel type mounted to caster freely.
See the kit HERE.
Same flight from another perspective. Better shot of the dolly shape and how it works.

Answer; NO, you are not allowed to take thermometers or any form of mercury on an aircraft. If spilled, it’s possible the aircraft could rust away before you could land.;
The most despicable thing ever perpetrated against our veterans happened recently when someone saw fit to call a “time out” to honoring them. And to top it off materials and an increase in personnel expense were required to enforce it.
A video popped up in my YouTube stream having a little to say about respect and honor. The littlest among us understands, how can anybody make excuses for an adult? Respect.
