Use to hang your completely assembled aircraft out of harm's way! Utilize wasted space in your garage over the hood of your parked car. Use over other stationary equipment in ceiling height-challenged spaces. Anywhere you're not routinely walking or high ceiling spaces easily become a convenient storage opportunity! Simple to insert or remove your airplane quickly! Originally designed for display of models in our brick and mortar hobby shop. Laser cut from rugged 3/8" Baltic Birch plywood, 1/4" Ply for Medium-weight, or 1/8" Poplar for light-weight models.

Every Z-Rack-N-Stack Hanger needs a Header (the horzontal piece at the top). A set of First Arms is required to connect to your header. This forms the basic rack with one storage level where the top aircraft is stored. After the first arms you may add as many Accessory Arms as you like as long as 50 pounds is not exceeded in total model weight for the 3/8" Baltic Birch Plywood rack.

Each Z-Rack-N-Stack Hanger Header is equipped with a screw hole in case you want to screw to a beam in your garage/workshop and a 1" hole to accept a rope or wire hook connection, even a pipe across two beams may pass through this hole as a hanging method. Make certain that whichever method you use to hang your models that it's substantial enough for the weight you intend to place on the rack. Substantial means at 2-3x the strength of what you expect to hang from it. DO NOT use this product as a ladder or in any way to support persons. On the bottom of every arm is a dove-tail joint to accept the next arm. The bottom of your rack will always be the last arm. Each First Arm Set comes with 2 filler pieces for the last empty dovetail joint at the bottom of your rack for a nice clean finished look.

As you can see, we reverse each arm so that the tails of each aircraft do not interfere with the one above or below it. this is recommended but not required. You may set it up all or some facing one way if you like.

Your rack may be stained prior to assembly as ours was. 4-40 fasteners are used to prevent the joints from slipping apart. You may glue the joint together or not if you wish. We did not so we can easily reconfigure our setup any time we want.

Tips for choosing Z-Rack-N-Stack Hanger Header size: The header sets the inside width of your rack. If you need to put an airplane with fuse mounted landing gear in all but the bottom arm set, the rack needs to be wide enough to allow the wheels to fit between the arms. Wing mounted gear will fit around the hangers, and of course any width gear will fit on the bottom hanger. Sailplanes use the 12" width in most cases (except for very large sailplanes), models with landing gear work better with the 16" or 20" with header.

Tips for choosing Z-Rack-N-Stack Hanger Arm size: Choose an arm that is wide enough for your wing to rest on the arm surface. 12" and 16" are available. Choose enough drop range to clear the fuse of the model or the landing gear of the model above. The height is measured from arm wing saddle to arm wing saddle. So, if a model with landing gear is to be stored above another model, room needs to be allowed for the gear to hang down and not hit the wing or fuse of the model below. Self-adhesive foam tape or the loop side of Velcro may be added to the arms wing surface to avoid any scratch risk if you like.

Wing Protection

To keep painted and covered surfaces from marring, Z-Rack-N-Stack Wing Saddle Padding cushions the wing where it rests on the arms. Padding is a small addition that helps protect a finish over months of storage. Because the system is modular, you can start with a single header and one set of First arms and add more Accessory Arms as the fleet grows.
