This compact controller can keep it's cool even during the most extreme 3D maneuvers. Talon 25 is intended for use in most 400-size helicopter setups running up to 6S LiPo or your favorite 3D foamy that pulls up to 25 amps. Despite it's size, it boasts an impressive 8 amp peak/3 amp continuous BEC, keeping even the most draining servos at ease. Talon 25 also offers Castle's industry-leading helicopter functions, not to mention easy programming using the Castle Link USB adapter (coupon for free Castle Link included). Talon 25 tips the scales at a mere 18 grams!
Notes from Dave: This is a world beater ESC. Now we can run high voltages in our smaller models with a small tight ESC from a quality manufacturer. I'm very excited to put one of these in my 5S, 16 ounce Stick 400. Sweet!
Input Voltage: 2-6 Lipo Max Continuous Amperage: 25* BEC Voltage: 5.5v BEC Amperage: 3 Continuous, 8 Surge** Switching Rate 7,000 Hz Resistance 0.0065 Ohms Brake yes, programmable Reversible yes - change any two wires Size .072 x 1.72 x 0.32 in. Weight (w/wires) 0.63 oz. (17.9g) Universal connector
*RC HOBBY APPLICATION RATING: 25 amps for the duration of a single 4,000 mAh battery pack with the ESC in contact with a 5 mph airflow of 25C (77F) or cooler air. Controller temperature must never exceed 100C (212F). Exceeding current or temperature ratings may damage components and may shorten the life of the ESC. Always verify system current draw at full-throttle. Decrease load or increase airflow to decrease the ESC's operating temperature.
**Peak indicates amperage sustainable for most servos' current draw transients. Always confirm servo current draw before the first flight of the model.
Fast when you want it to be, slow when you need it to be, and always stylin'.
In the full-scale aviation world, the Very Light Jet category (VLJ) is comprised of small business jets that seat four to eight people. They give private pilots the speed to effortlessly zip past an ordinary Cessna 172 on the way to a weekend fly-in. With a VLJ, the pilot would be finished eating that $100 hamburger before the 172 even enters the landing pattern.
The design of our Raven is inspired by Terry Dunn's VLJ design published years ago in Fly R/C magazine. Although Terry's original design was a simple, foam park-flyer, it had great lines reminiscent of the VLJs that Cirrus, Sonex and others now produce - or even possibly Mooney, if they had ventured into private jets back in the day.
We based the size of the Raven around a 64mm EDF - a power system that's inexpensive, readily available, and has plenty of power for this type of design. It's mounted right up-top, in the air flow channel of the fuselage. From there, we massaged and reworked Terry's design, adding landing gear and re-engineering the fuselage to have a removable wing section. A little tuck here, a little snip there, and the Raven was born.
The Raven's wing is a snap to build. It utilizes our unique WEB-LOCK wing construction to lock in critical alignment locations. The stressed balsa skin makes the panels very light and surprisingly rugged.
We've designed the Raven's fuselage to be self-aligning, with a light-weight internal structure for added strength. Surrounding this is the outer balsa skin, which is strong, light-weight, and twist-resistant. Overall, this balsa/ply airframe is uncomplicated, lightweight, easy to build, and features precision laser-cut parts that fit together quickly and accurately.
Oh, and let's not forget that V-Tail. It's the Raven's party piece - the touch that gives it that unique look - its swagger - its style.
The wing is removable for storage/transport and for giving access to the radio/servo area. From there, you have easy access to install the radio and ESC. What's more, the fully assembled model can fit in the trunk of most cars.
Up front, there's a large hatch, which gives quick access to the battery and nose-gear. The hatch's spring-loaded latch makes swapping in a fresh pack a breeze.
When it comes time to fly, the Raven will surprise you in a number of ways: First, is the takeoff roll - it's shorter than you might expect!
Second, the Raven's wide flight envelope. It's just as much at home cruising around the pattern at lower throttle settings as it is tearing up the skies at full-throttle. Next is the Raven's surprising aerobatic capabilities. Now you'll never confuse this for a pattern ship, but Raven can easily perform loops, rolls, 1/2 Cubans, split-S, inverted flight and more - and most without needing a dive to start.
Lastly is the controllability. Even at very low speeds, you'll always feel that you have control of the Raven. And that controllability is a welcoming feeling when it comes time to land smoothly, slowly, and right down the runway.

Like all Sig Kadets, the LT-40 behaves perfectly in flight, with true "hands off" stability on all axis. If the student pilot gets disoriented, simply let go of the control sticks and the LT-40 will recover itself and return to level flight within seconds.
Because the Kadet LT-40 is bigger than the average .40 size trainer, it has a much lighter wing loading, which lets it fly slower! Slower speed gives the student pilot more time to think and react to what the model is doing, thus making it easier to learn to fly R/C. Every major part of this kit has been pre-shaped, sawn, die-cut, laser-cut, routed, or whatever it takes to make it ready-to-install right out of the box.
Setups below would be my first picks depending on your purpose for the model. If your trying to learn or train a beginner, or just want a mild model with enough power to get out of trouble, pick setup around 1000 to 1400 foot per minute climb rate (fpm). An expert can do quite nice aerobatics on 1000 fpm, 1400 fpm and above is enough for first season pilots. Setups 2000 fpm and higher is agressive power.

A123 Systems/LithiumWerks Nanophosphate 2S 1100mah Pack 2-#18650 Cells. These batteries are capable of 30C constant discharge, with a 10 second pulse rating of 60C. Cycle up to 1000 times before significant capacity loss occurs. The rugged assembly of the products will ensure that your pack will last for years, not months. Can be repeatably charged to 100% in 15 minutes. This is the nano phosphate technology the automobile companies are testing on their future hybrid vehicles. Standard shape is Flat (side by side) as shown in photo. Stick packs may also be constructed as a "Stick" for narrow use.
Charge only with Lithium chargers with an A123/LithiumWerks mode limiting charge voltage to 3.6V per cell. An Astro Blinky for A123/LithiumWerks is highly recommended as a balancing aid for these cells.

Less weight than 1400 NiCads above. Good cell where fast charging is not a needed but extra capacity is desirable. High capacity TX Battery, if you are sick of your TX running down. Yes, it is the same size as your current AA pack. A "AA" is a "AA". This is what your computer TX should have included!
9.6V Weight 312g / 11 oz.
Individual Cell Internal Impedance 20.0mΩ
All AA size cells over 1700mAh should not be fast charged ever! If you repeat this experiment, your on your own. I recommend only factory wall wart charging with units rated of 70mAh or less for these type cells. Break in (first forming charge) on 50mAh factory wall charger 700mAh-19.6 hours,1100-30.8 hours,1650-46.2 hours, 2500-70 hours. For 70mAh wall charger deduct 28% of time, for 100mAh wall charger deduct 50% of time. Forming charge (initial charge) on peak detection chargers is not recommended and voids warranty. Any peak or fast charger use on this pack voids warranty. Don't bother calling trying to get a warranty for failing to follow instructions. I've heard all the stories. They all end like this, "My battery does not cycle well now." and "It worked ok for a while but now it runs down fast shortly after charging". If you put any AA cell over 1700mAh capacity on your peak charger, it's bad. I've already made theses tests for you so you could avoid the pain. If you ruin one of these mega capacity TX packs, just order a new one and do better the second time.

Did you ever get to see a Wright Flyer fly? Did you ever dream that someday you'd get to wiggle the wings on a Wright machine? I'm betting during all those many months of testing, planning, designing our famous Wrights went to bed wondering what it would be like. Then they did it. Now, you can do it. This conversion kit combined with the parts from two GWS Slow Stick slope glider kits (no longer available, discontinued by GWS) will produce a sport scale 1905 Wright Flyer. This model from the side view is scale having all the struts the original had. Omitted are all the flying wires and control cables. All the fiddly bits included on a perfect scale model (that break every time you land one) are gone. My intention was to design a model you could fly 10 times in a day if you liked and not once or twice a year for special occasions as you'd probably choose to do with a pure scale model.

How does it work? If you look close you can see our unobtrusive elevator servo (we used a GWS Pico) on the canard support strut. This servo drives the top canard which in turn, drives the bottom canard through a simple transfer rod. The canards move up and down together on thier own individual pivots like the original 1905 flyer. The rudder servo is adhered to the bottom of the bottom wing with a Dubro Micro Push rod (1/32 wire in clear plastic tube) driving the rudder. The rudder moves like the original 1905, both together. Perhaps the most exciting feature is this model flys with real wing warping. The outside wing strut assembly has a servo hidden under the bottom wing driving a diagonal rod that appears to be a simple bracing rod in the scale location. Forget the Eindecker like wings, wouldn't it be gross if this model didn't turn by real wing warping? You're going to love this feature every time you show how it works.
How does it fly? I was amazed, after some initial hiccups working out the right setup. We've refined CG and throws until it flies more or less like you'd expect a trainer to fly. It is a bit draggy so you tend to fly with a middle throttle position most of the time and you will want to be comfortable flying with both hands as this design likes rudder inputs. However, you'll soon agree it flies like a trainer. Provided in the kit is the CG you need along with servo horn lengths, control throws and even exactly where to trim the canard for that first flight.
How does it build? This is not a normal kit, it's mostly nut and bolting with some foam trimming and fitting here and there a little gluing and some finishing (staining). If like me, your favorite ever childhood toy was an Erector set, you're about to feel young again! Now I know you hated those square nuts and slot head screws (I did) so we included all hex wrench driven button heads and ny-lock nuts. There is a surprising amount of aircraft ply in this kit. The main structure starts out as a 24"x24" section of 1/8" thick air ply (cuts slower on a laser) and it's packed tightly with many parts. Needless to say, there is a lot of laser cutting time here. It has the longest hardware list of any kit we've ever designed and the longest instruction set I've ever written including several drawings/templates. Ron, who built both of our in-house prototype models said he needs 3 work days to complete one. So, please plan enough time, it's very important to us that you actually finish it and get it flying. I want to hear the joy in your voice and see the pride on your face when you tell me about it at the next show.
Whats included? All the hardware needed that isn't already in the Slow Stick kits is included here. All fasteners are good quality allen head bolts with lock nuts. There are 88 washers and you can guess how many nuts and bolts.
What do you need to complete? Add 2 motors (max 2oz, 800-1200 KV), 2 stick type motor mounts, 2 ESC's, APC counter rotating prop set, electronics (2 each 6 gram servos, 2 each 20oz torque servos (we used HB-65's), and 1 each 3S battery 1800-2200mah. Extensions and Y's. For motors under 1000 kv, use 10-4.7 props, 1000-1200 kv use 10-3.8 props.
