|Thread-locking adhesive is a thin fluid applied to the threads of fasteners such as screws and bolts to prevent loosening. These adhesives cure anaerobically (away from the presence of air) and electrochemically, care must be taken to avoid contaminatin the container of threadlocker with threadlocker fluit that has contacted metal (never suck excess back into the bottle). Thread-locking fluid is a thixotropic fluid meaning under shear stress, it exhibits a time-dependent decrease in viscosity. This allows it to flow well over time, yet still resist short-duration shearing, as in vibration or shock.
